Reactive Skin

Reactive skin

Reactive skin is a term used to describe skin that is sensitised and prone to reacting negatively to various external factors or products. If you have reactive skin, you may notice that your skin becomes easily irritated, red, itchy, or develops rashes in response to certain triggers.

Common triggers for reactive skin can include harsh skincare products, fragrances, certain ingredients, weather changes, hormones, medication, pollution, stress, and even certain foods. Reactive skin can also be a result of an impaired skin barrier function (a sick skin), which means your skin has difficulty retaining moisture and protecting itself from irritants.

It’s essential to be patient with your skin and introduce new products or treatments gradually to monitor how your skin responds. Avoiding excessive exfoliation and using products with minimal ingredients can also be beneficial for reactive skin.

What we recommend

A restoring and reparative facial treatment designed to soothe, calm and heal inflamed, reddened and sensitised skin.

This gentle yet rejuvenating treatment commences with a double cleanse to prepare the skin and remove impurities. The skin is then treated with niacinamide to rebuild the barrier proteins and boost skin immunity.

A restorative treatment mask brimming with probiotics, vitamin B3 and anti-inflammatories and antioxidants will then repair and restore the balance in the skin. Upon removal of the mask, an intensive oil treatment comprising of pure olive squalene and anti inflammatory botanicals is massaged into the skin.

This is followed by the application of a redness and irritation reducing peptide moisturiser. Zinc oxide completes the treatment to heal and protect the skin.
